The  Makers

Traditions Carried Forward

Every piece begins with a maker. Every tradition endures when artists mentor and communities learn.

Inspired by the Golden Era of Tiki, Orchids of Hawaii is looking beyond the familiar, returning to the islands that shaped the art, craftsmanship, and traditions that inspired a generation. Through an ongoing expedition across the South Pacific and Polynesia, we are building relationships with artists, educators, museums, cultural institutions, and students who are carrying these traditions forward.

Our goal is not simply to recreate the past. It is to learn directly from the people whose knowledge, skills, and histories continue to shape these islands today, and to create work that reflects that experience with honesty and respect.

Every collaboration offers an opportunity to document traditional craftsmanship, share individual stories, and introduce new voices to a wider audience. As Orchids of Hawaii grows, so does our commitment to ensuring that the people behind the work remain an important part of the story.

When you welcome an Orchids of Hawaii creation into your home, you become part of that journey. Your support helps create opportunities for artists, students, and cultural organizations while encouraging the preservation of traditional craftsmanship for future generations.

From HawaiĘ»i to the Marquesas, Aotearoa New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Samoa, and beyond, every destination adds another chapter to the story—one built on curiosity, collaboration, and a shared appreciation for the remarkable cultures of the Pacific.
